O.I.

Any moms here that have kids with OI? Just curious :

Re: O.I.

  • Hi,
There was one mom, but I'm not sure if she is still here. My son has dentinogenesis imperfect, but not OI.

  • That's interestingis it in the family or was it just a flukey thing. Sorry for the vocab my son has a very mild case and you would never know that he has it, but that's almost more anxiety ridden sometimes. He does have the dentinogensis imp as well, again a mild case. My husband has it. Glad I found you!
  • No one in the family has either di or oi. It's probably connected to some genetic anomaly because ds has other congenital anomalies, genetics can't find anything yet.
All of ds's baby teeth are crowned.
  • My husband has had quite a bit of work done as well. In hoping our son has a mild enough case where it doesn't affect his adult teeth, but only time will tell.
  • DE is 3. All his baby teeth are crowned! Porcelain over stainless steel in the front and silver in the back. The restoration was done under general anesthesia at the hospital. We are lucky our dentist has had 4 pediatric cases before Owen's. Of course, the total cost was astronomical. Our dentist said there is 50 chance of the adult teeth being affected.
Good news that your LO seems so mild. How old is he?
  • It's amazing what they can do, but I'm so scared for him. He is almost 17 months old. They all look good, just a little gray. But at least they aren't all ground down. I'm crossing my fingers and toes!
