TTC After a Loss

BBT and HCG Trigger Shot

Does anyone have any experience with BBT and using an HCG trigger? I triggered Thurs PM, so I was expected to ovulate yesterday morning. I had a higher temp yesterday morning and had strong O like cramping, but my temp fell back down today. I didn't know if the temps are accurate after the hormones of an HCG trigger. Is it possible for a trigger not to cause ovulation?

I also had two follicles at my ultrasound, so I don't know if that would affect anything either.

Thanks in advance!

I have not used an hcg trigger yet so take this with a shaker of salt. The temp rise is caused by progesterone, excreted by the corpus luteum. So I'd guess that the trigger itself shouldn't give you a temp rise, that the rise would still be a reliable indicator of ovulation. I think it may mess up pee sticks, though.I'm sure someone smarter than me will chime in. FX for you!

Thanks! I thought about that but my understanding is the trigger does something with estrogen, so I wasn't sure if it masks or somehow the progesterone with BBT? I guess I'll just have to wait and see if the temps spike soon.

Check out my chart. I had a trigger and my temp shift was 2 days later, also with 2 follicles. Of course, when I used OPK the next am it was so dark it looked neon, because it picked up the trigger. Are you on progesterone? I've heard clomid and progesterone can mess with temps. Mine have not been as high as usual this month for postO, but this is my first medicated cycle so I really have no idea what to expect. PM me if you have more questions, although I'm not sure Ill have any good answers, but I'm a week ahead of you so I might be able to help!

I'm not taking progesterone, but I am on clomid. But, thank you for showing me that it should still rise. I may call my doc Monday if I don't get a temp rise tomorrow. I also got a really dark OPK picking up the trigger, and I knew those weren't valid with a trigger. Ugh.

  • Could it be a fallback rise? I'm new to charting but I believe I had one on 2dpo. Thought I'd throw the idea out there, anyway.

Hmm..I've never had a fallback rise. In fact, I've never heard of it. i thought there had to be three days of high temps to get CHs. I'm hoping that is all it is. A trigger has to work, right?!

I have done four triggers and from what my RE says taking the trigger is basically guaranting that you will ovulate. The hcg makes the follicle ripen further and release. I have never tracked temps so i am not sure if it could hve affected your temp.

Thanks! I thought the trigger was failproof for O, but i wasnt sure. I got a significant rise today, so I either had a fallback on 2dpo, or I Oed later than I thought. FX my temps stay up the next few days!
