Rotating Tylenol/ibuprofen

Talk to me regarding rotating ibu/Tylenol.

my three year old is lethargic and feverish. 102 without meds.

this is day #2, he sees his pedi tomorrow, but I really want to keep him comfortable today. How do you rotate these two?

just read the directions on the bottles and follow them ibuprofen works longer than tylenol

One of my boys has the exact same thing going on right now. It's weird, no other symptoms. 

With the ibuprofen just be sure it's not taken on an empty stomach, can cause upset tummy if it is.

see, someone else told me this up here...I thought with ibuprofen it was every 6-8 hours only?

Ibuprofen typically can be given every 6 hours. And technically Tylenol and ibuprofen can be given at the same time which is why most people find success with alternating every three hours and it is easy to remember/track. This was my Pedi's recommendation also.

To clarify, you are only giving each medicine every 6 hours. For example at 12 give dose 1 Tylenol, at 3 give dose 1 ibuprofen, at 6 give dose 2 Tylenol, at 9 give dose 2 ibuprofen. You can give both together, but the idea behind the alternating is that if one starts to wear off before you can give another dose, you can give the other medicine as a backup.

lol! Good...this is what I did. For some reason, I couldn't wrap my brain around it to make sure I was doing it right. Thanks all!
