Sippy Cup - survey

Just for fun - which is more annoying to you - sippy cups that leak or sippy cups that take a Phd in Engineering to figure out how to put together and make work (and have way too many parts to wash!)?

I was getting really annoyed with the Playtex Straw Sippies overflowing so I bought some Tommee Tippees and there are just too many parts and they are a total pain to get the straw through the opening -  not to mention I had to go read some reviews on Amazon to figure out how to get the liquid to actually flow through the straw (thankfully someone out there figured it out)! Ridiculous! So, today, I'm back to the simplicity of the Playtex cups.

But, ask me tomorrow when one of our Playtex cups overflows all over the counter and I'll probably have changed my tune!

  • Leaking cups annoy me to no end!!  I don't care about the number of parts as long as they don't leak all over my floors and furniture.  Plus, more parts usually means the cups are easier to get everything clean.

I love DD's Contigo kids cups because they don't leak but I have to make sure that they don't get lost with milk or anything in them because it is nearly impossible to get the cups clean.  The cups are only two pieces and stuff gets stuck inside the lid if not cleaned right away.  However, I will take regular sippy cup round up over continuously cleaning up spills any day.

  • I could have written this word for word, same exact cups, same frustrations!  I have found the TT cups also leak, so I'm at a loss.  I also bought some Munchkin cups and Nuby cups, and DS has a hard time sucking hard enough to get any liquid out.  So...the Playtex straw cups are the easiest...but then I want to chuck them across the room every time they leak, which is constantly.  So...I don't know what's worse.  :(

  • The leaky ones!!! Our Playtex straw cups started leaking out the sides, no idea why, so I promptly replaced them with the simple Playtex click close ones and I love them! No leaks at all. And no bazzilions of parts, just a rubber valve in lid and that's it!
  • Leaky cups are the MOST annoying!  I don't use the Playtex cups anymore unless they are the only clean cups I have.  My Nuby cups never leak and there are only 3 parts and no assembly.  Love them!

  • I like the playtex sipster cups. 3 parts, cup, lid and valve and they are all easy to clean and never leak. I have one Bubba straw sippy but the thing is not leak proof at all. I only use it when we go to restaurants and I want to help her with her drink so she won't throw it on the floor.

  • The sippy cups that are working really well for us right now are the Munchkin brand that are shaped kind of like a grenade haha. (That's what they remind me of anyway LOL) They are more leak/spill proof than the Playtex and are fairly easy to take apart to clean in my opinion.

I hate leaky cups! We love the nuby ones, with the plain straw- not the sport cup kind (those leak at the joints, where the straw folds).  The only bit that might spill, is the little bit of milk/water at the top when she stops drinking. Just a little pinch of the straw and the liquid goes back down.

  • The Tommee Tippee cps are easy to put together, IMO. Lots of parts yes, but only one more part than the Nuby cups I use. Leaky cups get thrown out in this house.

  • We have both of those. I love how easy the Playtex ones are but they leak milk out the straws like crazy! Soooo annoying.

The TT ones are kind of a pain to put together but so worth it since they never leak.

  • I think I rank leaking and PITA to put together about equally.

I can't stand those TT straw cups!  We have TT training cups that I love though.  They don't leak and are really easy to put back together.  I use the straw cups as a last resort, but lately, I will take a dirty sippy one out of the dishwasher and wash it by hand rather than deal with putting together one of the straw cups.  I put the straw cups away by throwing all the parts inside and putting the cover on, to be dealt with later (like when DH feels like it, because I've given up).  These are the TT sippys that we have:

  • I haven't found a straw sippy that doesn't leak. And I feel like I've tried them all. I am also using playtex straw cups, because they are the easiest for me to put together. I have some traditional sippies, nuk I believe, for the car and grandma's house. They don't leak.
