Update: Help! Green Hand!

Help! Green Hand!

My child has a green hand!  I was finishing her Daddy gifts, and although the paint came off just fine, I decided to use a stamp pad for the card. The prints came out fabulous but the freaking ink won't come off!  It's water base non-toxic ink, so I'm not uber concerned, but I feel horrible. Anyone have any tricks to get ink off skin? It's supposed to come off with soap, but that's a big ole lie!

ETA: Dr. Google has advised me to try rubbing alcohol, hairspray, baby oil, windex, bleach, and acetone. I've tried the first two on my own green hand, to no avail. I'm not putting the latter three on her, so I'm not even going  to try it. Now to find some baby oil...

Update: First thing this morning she got cereal all over her green hand, and when I wiped it off with a wipe, most of the green came off too! I know it wasn't the wipe alone, as I used like 20 yesterday. After that, baby shampoo got most of what was left. I'll try hand sanitizer for the green left in the folds! Thanks ladies!

  • Crap.  I'm trying to remember what I use to get it off my hands.  It usually comes off when I wash my hair, so try shampoo?  Maybe a soak in the tub and a good solid handwashing with shampoo?

Random side note - A friend of mine used to use shampoo to get the smoke smell off of her hands so her parents wouldn't figure out she smoked.  She swore it worked.

    That's pretty amusing.

On y'all's advice, I tried rubbing alcohol again. After some serious scrubing, it got a little lighter. She won't let me get in the folds very well, but at least it's a little better! I'll try shampoo when she wakes up. The child's got the cleanest green hand known to man!

  • Lava soap? It is a little abrasive and could get the paint out.

  • Hand sanitizer. Sounds crazy but it worked on one of my former employees who had black marker writing all over her hands.
