Pregnant after 35

Cautiously excited

I'm cautiously excited, just found out that I'm pregnant... I just turned 40 in April and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Hypothyroid in February.  We had been TTC since September (I believe that was the reason we were not able to get pregnant).  Just wanted to say hi and hope to see some of my pregnant friends from my first pregnancy 2 years ago.

  • Congratulations! I have hypothyroidism too and didn't think I could ever get pregnant...so, we never tried. But i concieved on two types of birth control. I was taking kelp and didn't know it can help prep the uterus! Make sure your endocrinologist checks your TSH, free T4 and T3 levels every 2 to 4 weeks. My synthroid meds had to be increased from 125 to 150 almost immediately. He said I would have a miscarriage if I didn't get it checked oftenand the baby could develop a type of hypothyroid in the womb. Otherwise, he said we should have no problems carrying a baby to termyea! Good luck to you and stay healthy!
  • Congrats to you. How exciting

  • Yes, funny you mention that. I found out on Saturday BFP and read somewhere that the endo should be notified immediately to monitor dose. I have been hyper for 2 months after orginally being diagnosed as hypo. Went in today for blood work and my numbers are the best they have ever been. They did say this gives a base line. Have you ever read or heard about women with thyroid issues could have babies with developmental issues. I feel like I'm being monitored well prior to being pregnant but I'm still nervous about my tsh number not being perfect.
