Hello ladies! I had my first U/S today, because I have had a tiny tiny bit of spotting just this morning and my OB wanted to double check. The U/S was AMAZING! I am measuring at 8w4d, but according to my LMP I am 8w3d, so a day ahead of time And it looked like a little gummy bear! At the very last minute it totally waved one of it's little arms at us, even the u/s tech pointed it out - it was so cute! It's measuring at 2cm and had a heartbeat of 173, the OB and tech both said it looked great, which made me feel so wonderful!
They did find something and my OB took me back into her office and explained that my light bleeding is due to a Subchorionic Hematoma that is 2cm in size, which is basically a bruise (?) and it will hopefully work its way out eventually, so I will probably have a bit of actual bleeding going on in the next few days, but that it does mean that I have a higher possibility rate of miscarriage. She did say it is somewhat common, but I would love to hear from other ladies if you do have one or did have one and what your experience was?
I have been looking things up on Google, but they are all pretty fright-inducing and scary and are making me more panicked. I am just focusing on the fact that our baby is so cute and beautiful and has a healthy heartbeat.
TIA ladies!

Re: 1st U/S - Subchorionic Hematoma - A little Scared!
They're actually fairly common, and it's usually the size & location that is the most important from a pathology standpoint. From what I understand SCHs can form at anytime, but many women get them from implantation when the fertilized egg comes in contact with the uterus.
I've had 4 so far this pregnancy. They're more annoying than anything. My first 2 didn't spot at all, but the 3rd one was near my cervix so it spotted for about two weeks, including a gush of very watery blood. After that it transitioned to brown and I really only see if I'm vertical for long periods of time or after I use the bathroom because of pressure on the cervix. Now I have one that's on the side of my uterus, and as my uterus grows, it spots! It may also be reabsorbed, but right now I do see some brown liquid daily. It's lovely. My doctor isn't really concerned, but did test specific clotting factors and has referred me to a perinatologist since I've had multiple SCHs over a short amount of time.
ETA: also, some SCHs are reabsorbed and do not bleed... From what I understand having a SCH does not mean that you will definitely bleed; it depends on the location and migration.
TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.
Thank you! Yeah, I am thinking maybe because of its location, that's why she said I will probably have a fair amount of bleeding (her words). Thank you for your reassurance! She told me no heavy lifting, no exercising whatsoever and no sex - poor hubby!

Yeah I didn't want to go the Dr. Google route, but my parents were a little concerned and now it's gotten me freaked out! Thank you for telling me it's so common, my doctor didn't give me that kind of a ratio, she just said it isn't uncommon in pregnant women. She put me on a kind of glorified bed rest - no heavy lifting, no exercise whatsoever - including my walks, and no sex, for the next four weeks, so I'm trying to get into that mindset!
