Baby Names

WDYT...Georgina?

I'll preface this by saying I love this name and until recently DH was not on board with it. We were trying to think of Scottish/Gaelic names, but have not found something that we absolutely love....so I keep coming back to Georgina.

Questions: Our last name begins with a "J" so would Georgina J (2 syllables) be too rhyme-y? Also, what are some nicknames that come to mind when you hear Georgina? And lastly, how does it go with DD's name, Emma?

I got great feedback and my last post so I thought I would ask you all again,

WDYT of Georgina?

(Right now we are thinking of Georgina May as first and middle names, but if you want feel free to suggest other middle names)

TIA

Re: WDYT...Georgina?

  • I like it! I think Georgina May is pretty. I guess whether or not it's rhymey depends on how your last name is pronounced. I think it goes well with Emma.

  • What about Georgia May? Rolls off the tongue a bit easier?

  • I like the name a lot. I brought Georgina up with DH before, but he vetoed it. I think they sound great together.

    Thank you all!

Last name is pretty common...rhymes with "action"

  • It's gorgeous.  The LN starting with J does not bother me at all.

I think it sounds fine with Emma-- so if your DH is on board, I would use it without hesitation!

  • I like Georgina a lot! I think it goes well with sister Emma. I do not think the alliteration with last name J is bad. And I think Georgina May is pretty!

Finally, I want to say that I do like Georganna better, but that's just me personal preference. Georgina is very nice too!

  • I like Georgia. But not Georgina. I don't think the last name is a problem. I grew up as a double "L".
  • I'm not sure about Georgina, but I really Georgiana, I'm not sure why since they are very similar, but Georgiana sounds a little softer I guess?  I also like that it's a name in classic literature (Mr. Darcy's sister in Pride & Prejudice)
  • Love it!

  • I really like it. You could think about Georgianna too (this was on our girl list). It might make it not as rhymey with your last name?

  • I have Georgiana on our list, but Georgina is ice too. For me it would be too alliterative with your LN.

Gina and Gigi would work for NNs and both sound ice with Emma.

This. I was going to suggest Georgia too! ;)

Not a huge Georgina fan, but I don't hate it. I much prefer Georgia. My dd is Georgia Faye. So obviously I like Georgina Mae

  • Georgina is cute.  I think the flow is fine.  I don't have a problem with alliteration.
