I'm about at my wits end with potty training. DD is 2 yrs, 7 mos old.
We've been actively potty training since the fall of 2012, and we're
still not there. DH and I both work full-time, however DH has a
rotating schedule, so DD's schedule of being at home/daycare is never
the same. She has never had any problems going pee or poo on the potty-
does it almost every time she sits down. The problem comes in where
she cannot hold her pee for longer than about 30 minutes, and does not
mind being wet. We do a lot of potty training boot camp weekends where
she wears regular underwear with those plastic covers over top of the
underwear. I'll put her on the potty every 20-30 minutes, and she will
pee almost every time. As long as she doesn't have anything to drink,
she's able to hold it for about 30-60 minutes, but as soon as she drinks
something, she pees almost instantly, and then repeatedly for the next
hour or so. Other problem is that she never tells us when she pees, so
she'll be in wet pants (regular underwear), and we'll never know until
we go to the bathroom next. I plan to mentionthis to her pedi at the
next visit, but is it possible that there could be a biological problem
here, or is she just being stubborn/not ready? She was very advanced in
everything she's done.. crawling at 5 months, fully walking at 8 months,
and all of our transitions have been flawless (boob-bottle, taking away
pacifier, sleep routine, crib-bed), so we just assumed that this would
be easy as well. Definitely not!
