Best place to buy Everything!?!?!

Hi - I am a new mom, 18 wks preg with my first. There are sooooo many options out there for furniture, strollers, car seats, etc. Its driving me crazy! Can anyone recommend the BEST place to register and/or buy all this stuff? Maybe somewhere where an expert can give me advise on how to choose. Its all so very overwhelming....

Thanks~
Jessica

Re: Best place to buy Everything!?!?!

  • The most popular places to register are Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby and Amazon.  We don't have a BBB by us so I registered at Amazon and BRU.  I would go with whatever regionally makes sense for you and whoever would be buying gifts. I only did BRU for those who wanted to shop for the shower last minute and for older folks who don't use Amazon.  I LOVED the Amazon registry.  It was much easier to use than BRU and they give you better info (including a thank you list that gives you their address and what they bought you).  Check out lucieslist.com for a great registry guide and Baby Bargains gives some good reviews, but it is by no means the final say on things.  I found that just reading reviews on amazon was a great place to get info on a product.

I also recommend starting at least a private registry right away so when you see a review of something that you like you can go ahead and add it.

This board is also great at giving experiences on things like the age old PNP vs Bassinet vs Arms Reach vs Rock N Play option type questions.

ETA several big box stores have registries too Target, KMart, WalMart, but they seem to be more headache than they are worth.  Prices at my Target were higher than even BRU.

  • I'm lucky and I live 15 minutes from BBB, BRU, and Target. All of which are places I've gotten stuff for the boys.

That said I registered at BBB for DS1 because I liked their stuff the best. I also registered at Walmart because a lot of people in my family live an hour from the BRU and Target and I wanted to give them a local option. There's tons of good places to register just keep in mind who may be getting you gifts. I ended up getting most stuff from BBB bc it was new and everyone wanted to check it out.

  • I created a "private" baby registry on Amazon. That way, when I was perusing online or here on the Bump and ran across something I thought was interesting, I could add it there without anyone seeing. It was almost a place just to keep track of everything. I have since turned the private setting to public and am using it as my registry. I love their reviews online and frankly they are the best prices out there. For in person shopping, I like BuyBuyBaby.

  • Amazon has everything you will need. if you want to see stuff in person, go to BRU or BBB before you buy it from amazon (which seems to be cheaper in SO many cases). Also, check out clips on youtube for any products you're interested in (specifically strollers and carseats here). There are people that review products and tell you everything about them.

  • I ended up buying alot of the bigger items myself and found myself loving Albeebaby.com and saving quite a bit buying from there. they usually have 15 off sometimes even 20 off depending on the product and sales going on plus I think you get free shipping when you spend 49!
