Hi ladies,
I am seriously considering North Fulton Hospital this time around. I did have a good med-free experience at Northside with DD and I don't have any major problems with my OB group. I just have this nagging feeling that I should switch to a hospital and group that is more closely aligned with my wants. I'm very newly pregnant and think if I'm going to switch OB's (my current doctor does not deliver at NFH), this is the right time. I have read good things about this hospital and Isis seems to be a highly recommended OB/Midwife practice. Any experience(s) at this hospital worth sharing (good or bad) and any doctor recommendations that deliver there? TIA!
Re: North Fulton Hospital
Thank you so much for responding!! This is very encouraging!! Quick question though, did you see Kim at the Johns Creek or Alpharetta office? I have heard/read GREAT things about her but ideally, will need to go to the John's Creek office. I wasn't sure if she worked at one office over the other.. Thanks so much again for your feedback!!
I had a wonderful experience at North Fulton. We did a med free birth as well. We didn't get to do a waterbirth though, b/c we had some minor complications. You have to take a class to be able to do it, but its just a few hours long. Our baby ended up staying for a week in the NICU, and everyone we worked with there was wonderful.
One thing: Kim is a part of a group of midwives that deliver there but aren't all working at the same practice. Chances are very likely that someone else may be the one to deliver you. They offer meet the midwives periodically so you can at least get a chance to meet all the midwives. I was kind of freaked out by it at first but really when it came down to it, it wasn't a big deal to me who was there for the delivery.
I saw Kim at the Alpharetta office. I'm not sure if she goes over to John's Creek or not. Kim was on call over Christmas, so I was fairly confident she would have been the one to deliver. Also, she really likes to deliver her own babies, so if someone else is on call when one of her patient's goes in to labor, she likes to be called and most often will come in for the delivery.
