Can you give me an idea of what your 12 month old's feeding schedule is like?? Also, I'm afraid LO is getting bored with some of his finger foods, so any suggestions for fun finger foods to try would certainly be appreciated!
We're in transition mode between bottles and cups and formula and WCM but this is our loose schedule:
8am - 8oz bottle - 6oz formula + 2oz WCM
9am - breakfast - usually yogurt and fruit puree with a handful of Cheerios to feed himself
11:30-12:00pm - lunch of finger foods - he has all sorts of things for lunch: steamed or roasted veggies, sandwiches, shredded chicken/pork/beef, cheese, fruit, pasta, etc.
2pm - 8oz bottle - 6oz formula + 2oz WCM
4pm - snack - usually crackers and fruit. We've also started offereing a straw-cup of plain WCM here but he's not too interested just yet (hence the mixing for bottles)
6pm - supper of finger foods - again, he has all sorts of things. Whatever we're having essentially.
7:30pm - 8oz bottle - 6oz formula + 2oz WCM
He also has access to a straw-cup of water all day and he does drink quite a bit. Especially now that it's warm out. We also keep pouches on hand for snacks and meals on the go.
As for finger foods, we essentially give LO anything. All fruits and veggies (his favourite are roasted zucchini sticks and asparagus), sandwiches (squished down and cut into sticks), cheese, shredded and ground meats, dry cereal, cut up perogy, pasta, etc. Really anything we eat - we just cut the stuff that might not be manageble for him.
ETA: He also starting to not finish his bottles. Usually only the morning one gets polished off, the other two are sometimes only half drank.
When DD gets up, she gets her cereal (organic instant oatmeal w/ a fruit packet and milk or a Gerber breakfast bowl or powder grain cereal w/fruit packet/water) she's not a fan of pancakes. Dh had made some homemade pumpkin ones but she doesn't like them. After she finishes he breakfast she gets a 6oz formula bottle.
Lunch depends on where we are at. If at home, it's usually store bought toddler food...packets,pouches and the like. If we are out, we just look at things that are finger friendly. We do get beans a lot...chicken...fruit...veggies...if it's easy to cut up and easy for fingers to pick up, that's what we often order. Tonight at a Mexican restaurant DD got a chicken tamale that we cut up and she fed herself.
At night for dinner, if we don't have something for dinner that really doable for DD we always try to give her a protein and veggie/fruit to eat. If need be, we'll give her a toddler meal prior to us eating and then give her cut up fruit or veggies so she is still eating with us.
Finger food:
beans (black, charro, white are our preferred)
veggies-pretty much any cut up in manageable size
fruit -right now she is eating watermelon, cantaloupe, mandrin oranges, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, banana & peaches. She didn't care for the honeydew.
cheese, grain cereal, puffs, pasta, veggie burgers (she LOVES veggie burgers), pouches (straight fruit and veggie/fruit blends & straight veggies, yogurt blends as well), hummus, edamane, baba ganoush, falafel, microwaved ttiny apple cubes w/cinnamon...
hth
she also get 4oz formula after lunch as a precursor to her nap and then 6-8oz for night-night. She has access to water w/a splash of juice in her sippee throughout the day. She usually drinks 1-2 cups of this so about 16 oz. She has been know to drink up to 4 cups if she's been playing hard or outside longer.
