I think the point of this would be to make sure your wishes were expressed in case anything happened to you during childbirth or soon after your baby was born before you had a chance to write or amend your will. So yes, you would be including your unborn child in the will. You want to consider things such as who would you want to raise your child should something happen to both you and your SO. Not a pleasant thought but a very important decision.

I recommend going to a lawyer to have a will drawn up.  When my son was small, I had one prepared by a military lawyer.  Yes, guardianship is important....But I also had my money (and life insurance) placed in a trust.  This trust prevents my son from receiving a large chunk of change on his 18th Birthday (we all know what 18yo do with what seems like unlimited money).  The trust allows the guardian to access money when raising the minor, allows specified $$ for college, and has some payouts at age 21, 30, 35 and 40-with the hope that by the later payouts he will be thinking about purchasing a home, retirement savings etc., more concrete goals than just spending to spend.  I NEVER would have thought of having something like this prepared on my own, but now I plan to see a lawyer to prepare to handle things similarly for this LO.
