I'd say maybe wait about 30 min or so, if you can. But just watch for other signs with his activity and if he vomits. I'm sure he's totally fine though.
Peds head injuries are sucky
If he had an immediate cry, no loss of consciousness and the lump is visibly swelling, you are good to go to let him sleep, IMO.
Warning signs to look for would be any change in his normal affect and activities, not eating, vomiting, pupils not responding to light stimuli.
Go with your instincts here, if it was my babies, I'd let them sleep after I looked them over really good.

He just climbed about 15 steps with me right behind him and he's playing now. I think he just will have a new knot to show off for a few days!
