    - Water shoes are wonderful for splash pads. The grates can have sharp edges and wet concrete is slippery.

    - I've met another milestone on the way to being a real mom. I now wake up before dawn so I can have time to myself before everyone else wakes up. It is amazing.

    - I've been thinking about that controversial thread about SAHMs on the WMs board yesterday. If a good SAHM is supposed to be so busy she never has a break to get on TB, obviously I fail. *eye roll* I should always be cleaning or actively playing with my LO. So I've been thinking about how to cut out all down time. (I'm not trying to do this, I'm just trying to figure out how it is done.) I'm stumped with a couple of situations. With nursing, should I not nurse, figure out a way to do dishes while I nurse, or put down my phone and watch my LO while I nurse? While playing outside at the water table, should I forgo independent play and actively engage him every minute, or should I leave him unsupervised and come in to do my SAHM duties of laundry, dishes or packing DH's suitcase? I need guidance!!

    - I'm being bad and bumping during nap time. SAHMs shouldn't have breaks!

On my Knot board (which now is a group of about 15 of us  on facebook), 5 of them just had babies.  One was talking about how guilty she felt giving a her baby a bottle of breastmilk, even though it was breastmilk, and she knew she shouldn't feel guilty, but did just because it was in a bottle.  Another one told her that it was okay, she just needed to make eye contact with the baby the whole time so they were bonding.  Really??!!  So yes, from these ridiculous people, it turns out that although it's fine to be on facebook if you are nursing, it's not at all okay if you are bottle feeding, because you won't bond with your baby.  But it sounds like you would pass in their book!!  (Sorry, that's been driving me crazy for a week, and I just had to get it out).

    I have more!

UO: I will likely never let Allison be outside naked.  Ticks, mosquitoes, other bugs sunburn...no thank you.

    You know my opinion :-)

I think these are silly excuses that can be easily remedied, but you are using them to justify your squeamishness about being naked and your discomfort with nature.

Not everyone has the luxury of living in a private area without bugs. I have neighbors on all sides and a TON of mosquitos in my yard. I literally cant go into our backyard without getting bit. I just don't feel comfortable exposing my toddler to that. He does go outside every day but not with all of his skin exposed.

Same with the water shoes. He has them for the lake where there is rocks instead of sand. He's been walking for 3 months but I sure don't want to test his balance on a rocky surface so close to water!

  • I know we have some die hard Tangled fans... I just cannot get into it! Those GIFs were good though. I always like a well placed GIF!

UO: I'm really not a big fan of water shoes/swim shoes. Anywhere you're swimming, you should be able to put your feet on the ground. If your worried about glass or something, then you probably should not be swimming there. To me, it is the epitome of unnecessary consumer products for fussy American parents. Also they are super uncomfortable.

I don't own any but I'd like a pair. When I was 12, I went to a public pool with my friend. While walking around, I stepped on a rusty nail. Don't know how it got there. Took a trip to the hospital via ambulance and got a Tetanus shot. If I had water shoes on, it might not have gotten into my foot or I might have felt something under my shoe before it went all the way through.
