Adding water isn't the best idea ... but a dip in supply could mean a dip in demand, so adjusting the amt in bottles is okay (like the 4oz you were thinking). I'd send a yogurt snack for later in the day in case he's still hungry.
I personally wouldn't add water, although Cali is right, it is 87% water. So, your call I guess.
My supply takes a hit every month when AF comes. I go from pumping 12 oz to 10 and I send in 11-12 oz. I try to make for it by sending in more solids.
Yesterday, I drank a butt load of water, which I don't usually do and this morning woke up super full. I also upped my brewers yeast pills to 6 pills from 4. It probably all helped.
