Re: (Untitled)

  • Our little guy was born six weeks early, and we actually didn't send out birth announcements (he's almost 10 weeks now).  I have been updating most friends and family with pics on Facebook, and sent pics to people who aren't on the site (like my grandmas).  I think anytime you want to send them out is fine!  I'm sure people with understand that you didn't want pics of him with a tube and whatnot.  I like the idea of including a pic of him when he was first born and him now, but I'm sure people will be happy to see any picture of your beautiful son.

  • I meant to do them and the plan was to put a picture when he was first born and one when he came home but they never happened. I just didn't have the time.

  • We waited until they came home, they were actually about 4m old by the time I mailed them. I just put "Finally announcing the birth of" on the card. For me it was reclaiming a normal milestone.

  • My son was born at 32 weeks last February, and we had a professional photographer come to the hospital when he was 4 weeks old...his feeding tube luckily came out the day before!

I was able to order the announcements while he was still in the NICU and sent them out shortly after his due date I think in April.

  • With both my girls we had some professional pictures done right after they came home from the hospital. I sent the announcements out about a month after they were born.

I used a picture that I took myself and sent it when she was 2 weeks old or so, while she was still in the hospital. I really wanted to do it, and it helped me feel better. Do whatever you are comfortable with.

  • I wanted to get out announcements when they came home, and then I looked up and they were 6 months old/4 months adjusted.  So we did a 6 month card - took two of the pics we had from the NICU (they were about two weeks old in the pics, but they still had the wires and tubes) and put their six month shots below them.  Did the birth stats, then the six month stats and said "you've come a long way, baby."  Cheesy, yes, but we were very proud of just how far they had come.  It was a huge hit, actually.  I love that card!
