Re: (Untitled)

  • We're planning on only having one.  We both work (and will continue to do so), we can't afford day care for more than one child, we can't afford a bigger house, don't have time to spend with more than one child, we travel a lot for work, we can't afford to pay for college for more than one child, and we're busy already.  I guess a lot of that comes down to costs and finances, but just as much as that we don't have the time to raise two children well.  We're hoping to have one and to do it well!  I could go on, but I'll spare you...

  • Financially it makes sense. We struggled with IF for over 5 years and spent a lot of money on it.  Now that we are adopting, which is just as expensive, we feel it is the best choice.  We would have to pay the same amount with the second child.  Also, we just entered the waiting pool so we don't know how long we are going to have to wait (could be a week, could be two years).  It's up in air and kind of uncertain.

I think that only children today have an advantage over only children of previous generations because of better communication and extra curricular activities available.

Sure they may want a sibling but with an only we have options to do things like travel easier, host a foreign exchange student, or other activities.
