I like the idea of putting several in the crib so that way he's not frustrated with looking for one.
We went ahead and got rid of the paci for good. I did not have the patience to put it back in a million times when he would otherwise be sleeping through the night. We were lucky though because after the 2nd night of no paci, he took to sucking on his hands instead. Now he has no interest in the paci even if I offer it to him.

It was right about that age that she started finding it. I started hanging her binky to her when she was awake instead of putting it in her mouth and when u put her to bed I give her one for her mouth and one for her hand and then have a third nearby
We just put it back in for him for a few weeks until he learned to do it.nbsp; And we started keeping lots of them in the crib so he had a better chance of finding one when he woke up.
Yep, this. He almost always has his reserve paci by morning, while the initial one is on the floor behind the crib. He is able to find it and put it in his mouth and go back to sleep on his own.
Took the paci away from DD and DS when we did sleep training. It worked great. DD was most attached to the paci in the car, that was the hardest habit to break. DS could take it or leave it. So around 6 months, we got rid of it altogether. Both are happier for it!
Did you keep using it? Did you take it away at sleep time? Did you take it away all together?
My 6.5 month old DS likes his paci when he sleeps, but he can't find it and put it back in his mouth when he's in his crib (my DD was able to 100% of the time which is why I'm not sure how to handle this). I don't really want to take the pacifier away completely, but I'm also so sleep deprived that I have to take some action soon. So what worked for you? Any suggestions are great!
The very first night I started CIO, I took the paci away. She would use it at night and I blame it for the MULTIPLE night wakings. I still let her have it for naps though, she does like it. Ill let her keep if for a few more months then prob phase it out completely.
When we initially started doing CIO LO was too young to manage a paci on her own so we didn't train with it. Now she goes down with it for naps and bedtime. She might wake up once in the middle of the night and we pop it back in but I can tell she isn't totally dependent on it. My DS was! We would go in 5-6x a night to put it back in, the difference is I never fully sleep trained him.
Also, I believe the golden age is 18 mos for taking it away, if you can do it before then you should be OK. After that age it gets really hard!

We took it away completely for night time. We still use it occasionally for naps. He adjusted really quickly and now is fine without it.
ETA we introduced a lovey around the same time so now he uses that.
