Hi, wondering if anyone uses/has used one of the other and has advice on how to choose! Both are about 30 minute drive from me. Thanks!

Re: Diamond Institute Vs RMA???

  • I never heard of the Diamond Institute.  I used both RMA of CT 3 IUI's and RMA of NY.  I finally got pregnant with NY on our 1st IVF.  I would look at their success rates.  Also you can do your daily monitoring with a Physicians Assist. in Fishkill/Poughkeepsie if you go with RMA.
  • Not sure if you're still following this, but we used RMA of CT (Danbury).  We are very happy with them.  I love all of the doctors--they are open, friendly, willing to spend time with you and answer your questions, nurses respond to emails/phone calls quickly.

We briefly looked at Diamond and decided against them because they only had one doctor who went to Goshen and he was taking an entire month off.

For the record, we also looked at Hudson Valley Fertility and weren't crazy about them.

  • I went with Diamond Institute and so far, it's OK. We're undergoing blood work, etc so will see what happens with that to see what direction we are taking. We kinda of live between the Goshen and NJ sites, so when Goshen is closed, we can go to NJ which is a plus since not a big commute. Really hoping we won't do much beyond monitoring, but who knows. Thanks!

  • Never heard of Diamond.  I saw Dr. Jeff Klein at RMA in White Plains and he was AWESOME - he also sees patients in NYC.
  • Lurking: I saw Dr. Stengel at RMA WP and got pregnant on our first IVF attempt. Klein did a couple of my ultrasounds but I found that he rushed our appointments. I'm definitely going back there for baby #2 next year.

  • I am going for a second opinion after going to the Diamond inst. I am so unhappy with them. Both doctors were a little strange and told me different things about my test results.  One told me "your tubes look fine, both are open, and your ovaries are fine, several small follicles but normal" the other doctor said " well since it looks like there is a problem with your tubes and you have Poly cystic ovaries I recommend IVF". I felt he is pushing IVF on us because our insurance covers it even though we have only seen him twice and have tried nothing else.  he gave me the impression of a car salesman. We could leave until we said either yes or no to ivf, as if that is something you just decide right away.  IDK. im going for a second opinion at Hudson valley fertility in Middletown and hope I like it better.

@Lazynella I am sorry to hear about your experience, and the tough time you are having. I do feel REs are quick to jump to IVF since their job is to get you pregnant, but no one should feel like they have to take such a huge step unless there is a specific diagnosis, or all other options have been explored.

I would never, ever recommend Diamond Institute to anyone, and from what I have heard, many people feel the same way. I never saw a Dr after the initial consult and HSG test, even when I had a MC which a tech, not a Dr confirmed. I didn't hear from a Dr, and not until my beta was tracked to 0 was it recommended I make an appointment with one. I thought the office staff was very disorganized and I had so much trouble with making appointments at the right time (for lab work) or places (Goshen doesn't do HSG on site, had to go to NJ office, but no one thought to mention it to me when made appointment). Then when they decided I should do HCG injections for my failing pregnancy, the receptionist referred me to a youtube video, never spoke with a Dr about it. I just thought that was all too crazy for me.

I switched to RMA White Plains in January after my 3rd loss, and saw Dr. Stangel. I cannot say enough about him and his staff. They were so much more on top of things and I had a much easier time communicating with them. I would recommend them to anyone, and have!

    Good luck!

  • @eliz77 I agree everything there was so disorganized! I'm glad I went with my but and am going else where. If it comes to it and I think I need ivf I will probably got to RMA at the satellite location In Cornwall since I've heard so many good things about them.
  • I see Dr. Klein of RMA in White Plains and he is AMAZING! Just found out I'm pregnant after my first IVF (a few failed IUI's later). Dr. Stangel is also very kind.
  • @sjs6178 I agree, very awesome Drs there! Congrats on your pregnancy!
