Tommee Tippe Drinking Cups

My son is currently using tommee tippee trainer cups and i want to switch because he's discovered that if he sticks his finger in the spout, everything comes out!

The tommee tippe drinking cups look like a covered cup with a hole to drink from....i guess it's supposed to simulate the action of drinking for a regular cup..

To me, that makes the most sense to get these, however, everyone says to use the straw cups?  Which is better?

Re: Tommee Tippe Drinking Cups

  • Straw cups.  They also need to learn how to drink with straws.  I think at 16 months old, trainer cups are way too advanced.  The Zoli cup is the best one that I have used re straw cups, and I have tried almost every single brand.

  • We have Tommee Tippee Straw cups and regular cups, and I've grown to hate the straw cups.  They have too many pieces and are a huge PITA to put back together if you take them apart to wash them, and sometimes it's really hard to open the straw back up if you close it.  And DD always closes it and needs me to re-open it for her.  If all of the regular ones are in the dishwasher, I will take one out and wash it before I will give DD the straw cup now.  She can use a straw just fine, I just can't stand those cups.

These are the regular cups we have and I love them:

And these are the straw ones that I hate:

We have the same cups as the above poster. We used the straw ones for DS and refused to buy straw ones again. They are...any brand...a pain is the royal rump to clean. Many times you can't fully take them apart to clean and the suckers get moldy...which you don't know unless you fully take them apart. They work great but a pain in the took-us. We taught DD to use a straw using a regular straw. Dh would draw the drink into the straw by having it in the liquid and then putting his finger over the top and them offering her the wet end. She also practiced using the fruit/veggie food pouches. She is actually drinking well through a straw I think earlier than DS did.
