Two Under 2

I need sleep!!!!! :

By this time in my first pregnancy I was going to bed at 7 and waking up at 7 every day until 16 weeks. Now, with a 15 month old and working full time, I am lucky if I get 6 or 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Now my son is sick and is waking up every hour.
So frustrated I just want to cry.
I guess it will only get worse? When did you guys start sleeping again if ever?

  • Are you still in the 1st tri?  It will get better once you are in 2nd tri.  My DD was 9months old when I got pregnant the second time.  It wasn't so bad b/c she went to bed at 8pm and STTN.  The hard part was coming home from work and having the energy to do dinner, bath, and bedtime with her, and then still have to get everything ready for the next day.  I couldn't just come home from work and take a nap.  But once you are out of 1st tri you have more energy to deal with it.  And not that this helps you now, but I felt awesome after DS was born, even with a newborn waking up at night.  It was easier to be home with 2u2 on ML then to be pregnant working FT and taking care of a toddler.

Butting in.. but, that sentence gives me an incredible amount of hope :)

As for the exhaustion, OP.. I agree, 1st tri is tough, but my LO was also 3-6mos , especially when LO at home isn't well.. but 2nd tri was much easier.. 3rd tri I have terrible insomnia, so even though DS sleeps great, I still lay awake until 2, 3, 4+ am and then go to work!  I basically second everything PP has said.. it's tough if you're working FT because that in itself wears you out.. so then when you come home and have 5 million things that need to be done it can be pretty wearing.. Get DH on board with helping out -- that's helped me a ton!  DH does dishes and preps DS's lunch/bottles for the next day while I do bath time.. that way once DS is down for bed, I can just relax!
