TTC and children

My husband and I have been TTC and on Friday night we went to a dinner party at my parents house. Friends of my parents have a 5 year old daughter. Their daughter and I were sitting on the couch talking about Kindergarten when out of now where she put her hand on my belly and asked if there was a baby in there. (I probably should add that I am very petite. I am 5 ft 1 and weigh about 102 lb. and do not feel that I could look pregnant even if I were trying) I have heard people say children "just know" these things. Any thoughts?

DS insists that DD is a boy.  Should I believe him?

I don't think kids have any better idea than anyone else. When I was helping teach dance at 14 at 5"1 and 95 lbs (and having never had sex) one of my little dance girls asked if I was pregnant. She had a one year old sister and little cousins so I think it definitely had more to do with her seeing a lot of women with babies than anything else.

It took me a long time to get PG with DD1. My best friend's daughter had just turned 6 when I found out. I was very early and wasn't telling anyone yet. She came over at a family picnic, ploped herself down next to me and asked about the baby in my tummy. I just smiled and gave her a hug but I had that same feeling...that she just knew : )
