Now that DS is sitting, he wants nothing to do with spending time on his tummy. We used to do it regularly, but at this point I rarely even try, since he just gets pissed.
Tummy time is important to strengthen neck and core muscles... And to give the bones in the head a break so they don't get flat. Once you have a sitter, tummy time isn't so important because sitting does all the same things.
We couldn't do tummy time anymore as she rolls over the minute we put her on her back!
This, My first two hated rolling around, and this little guy started rolling over at 4 months, and now doesn't stay on his back, (so now the mat is worthless).

They don't crawl from lying on their stomachs. They start crawling when they lunge forward onto their hands and knees from sitting.
