Ok, I saw this name (Steffani) and thought "youneek spelling of Stephanie, but it's not terrible."

Then the father proceeds to tell me it is pronounced steff-AUN-ee. Like Gwen Stefani.

I spell it Stefanie and, even though I'm constantly correcting others when they spell my name, I like it better than Stephanie. Phonetically it is spelled properly with an F. I'm not sure I like the double f though. There doesn't seem to be a need for 2 Fs.
