Potty Training

Help! I am going to lose it!!

I have been trying to potty train my 3 yr old DD for about 5 months now... And she is still having accidents all the time. She won't ever say she has to pee, so I have to just go by time since the last pee, and sometimes she will go at home But never when we are out. She does say 'pee on the potty' just for fun, or when she's mad that we are trying to force her....if I take her right before we leave the house she will go, and then we get somewhere and try again before we leave there, she will say yes she has to go, but will just sit there...and what happens as soon as she gets in the car seat??? Pee! Ugh! I've heard that kids with high pain tolerance have a harder time because they don't feel the sensation until right at the last minute, and my mom thinks I should take her to the doc to see if something is wrong...any tips other than pull ups and home schooling??!! ??

  • I will add that we have tried charts, rewards, praise...it lasts for about a day and she just doesn't care anymore...

  • Have you tried going completely bottomless when at home...? Also, make her clean up the accidents.

  • Honestly, if it has taken you five months, then she is not ready.  We tried last fall for 2 months and I had to give up.  It was what you described, so we stopped and started again 2 weeks ago.  MUCH better this go around.

You can certainly take her to the doctor to rule out anything, but I really just think she's not ready and this is becoming a power-struggle.

  • I am start to give training my boy.I use a potty chair for him......play with the potty......what i would suggest is to try to make games, read lots of stories, ,,,i dowloaded a great app called potty training learning with the animals....my son loved it and help him a lot!
  • I know every toddler is different. Sometimes we can train our little one to use a potty as easy as 123, but sometimes we lose all our patience because they just don't want to. In my case, at first I also had a real hard time, cleaning her mess each time. But then i started to think about something that might work, and 1 day i saw this app - Potty training learning with the animals and i downloaded it. I let my baby watched it for days and to my surprise one day she already wants to use the potty. Just try it. There's nothing wrong trying out new things especially for your kid.. :)
