I have been trying to potty train my 3 yr old DD for about 5 months now... And she is still having accidents all the time. She won't ever say she has to pee, so I have to just go by time since the last pee, and sometimes she will go at home But never when we are out. She does say 'pee on the potty' just for fun, or when she's mad that we are trying to force her....if I take her right before we leave the house she will go, and then we get somewhere and try again before we leave there, she will say yes she has to go, but will just sit there...and what happens as soon as she gets in the car seat??? Pee! Ugh! I've heard that kids with high pain tolerance have a harder time because they don't feel the sensation until right at the last minute, and my mom thinks I should take her to the doc to see if something is wrong...any tips other than pull ups and home schooling??!! ??
Re: Help! I am going to lose it!!
Honestly, if it has taken you five months, then she is not ready. We tried last fall for 2 months and I had to give up. It was what you described, so we stopped and started again 2 weeks ago. MUCH better this go around.
You can certainly take her to the doctor to rule out anything, but I really just think she's not ready and this is becoming a power-struggle.
