I will try to explain best I can and not make it too long. DH is a firefighter so he works 2 - 24 hr shifts a week every 4 days.
Ex: Week 1 work Mon & Fri, Week 2 works Tues & Sat, Week 3 works Wed & Sun and so on.
I work a "normal" office job Mon-Fri. I am due in November. I will take 3 months off when the baby comes. When I go back to work DH will have the baby on his days off so we will only need coverage on weekdays that he is working. So usually 1 day a week, with every fourth weeks possibly needing 2 days.
We live in Hopkinton and I work in Needham. My question is how to approach day care for the day we need. I would assume most daycares take children on set days (ie the same day for every week) if they aren't there 5 days. Is there a daycare that will take our child on this rotating basis?
We unfortunately don't have family that is able to cover for the little time we need.
I hope that makes sense...
Re: Daycare advice/recommendations
I think you would able to find something be it a center or home daycare. As a daycare provider, I would work with you, but I am not in Needham.
Call a few places and tell them what you are looking for. Don't know until you ask.
I would go with a nanny for peace of mind. Bright Horizons Ioes drop in daycare for $15/hr but there are times when they just don't have space, most especially school vacation weeks, and it can be nerve wracking. (We did set days Tues-Thurs and drop in some Mondays.) If you know your husband's schedule a few weeks in advance it may help. Also, in drop in the kids are different every time so that may not provide consistency. If you do use a nanny it is great for emergencies, e.g. if nanny sick.
