Warning: this post could potentially be offensive, and I am also inviting PAIF, SAIFers to participate, so there could be tickers. And this is just for fun.
I always joke that nobody swallows after college. But, for some reason I have seen lots of things lately that make me think I should adjust my attitude. The consensus seems to be that swallowing not only helps prevent miscarriages, but also leads to a safer pregnancy. So, has anyone else heard this? And if you're a lurker who has had success, do you think it played any part in your success? It seems so silly but now I'm curious!
Or was all of this made up by some sex-deprived man going through IF treatments?!

3 Clomid IUIs -- BFNs
IVF #1 never made it to transfer
On "egg health" cocktail DHEA/CoQ10/FRC/Pregnitude/Melatonin
Starting IVF #2 for Feb 2013
Follistim/Menopur/Ganirelix
Cancelled mid-cycle due to high P4 levels early on.
OCPs again for IVF 2.5 mid-March. IVF 2.5 transferred two "gorgeous" 5-day blasts and BFFN. Even REI is baffled
On indefinite hold until a huge stroke of serendipity led me to IVF 3 May 2014
Testing found positive cardiolipins/APS, now on lovenox and intralipid infusions
Transfer of 2 5-day blasts and (FINALLY) BFFP!! 1st ultrasound shows two sacs and two HB, but one is sluggish, almost expecting vanishing twin Subsequent ultrasound confirmed vanishing twin, but my other Little critter looks fantastic!

I vote for sex-deprived man going through IF
Believe it or not, my DH doesn't like BJs so we've never "done that" (I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with him - what guy doesn't want that?!?) I can't say I'm complaining though - I have previous experience in that arena and that stuff is nasty.
Me: 32 - Stage II Endo / DH: 36 - Low count and morphology (1%)

IVF w/ICSI #1 - ER 2/8: 24R 19M 9F ET 2/13 2-5 day blasts (no frosties) = BFP - b/g twins!

I read that contact through "soft tissues" can sometimes help prevent Pre-E, because the body recognizes it as a more stable relationship, as opposed to guy after guy or the lack thereof. How you get semen contact to soft tissues is up to you.
In dealing IF, sometimes ironically sex is the last thing on any of our minds, so some may go the alternative route.
There might be some truth to this, but I can definitely say there were no BJs involved in me becoming PAIF.
THIS is immediately what I thought of when reading this.
Sig Warning.
I had severe pre-e that resulted in LO developing IUGR. My DH is a physician and we did a lot of research on pre-e. While the cause is not 100 percent known and in some cases can be caused by different things, it is often thought to be auto-immune in nature - in other words, your body reacts to foreign DNA. Research has shown that pre-e is more common in women who have been having unprotected sex (i.e. exposed to their partner's semen/DNA) with their partner for less than a year prior to becoming pregnant as opposed to women who had been having unprotected sex with their partners for long periods of time. Also, pre-e is more common in first pregnancies with a partner--i.e. limited exposure to your partner's DNA. The rate decreases also goes down with a second or third pregnancy with the same partner.
Additionally, it was interesting that at the same time I had pre-e, my cousin (who is my only female relative on my Mom' side of child bearing age), also developed pre-e and HEELP (spelling?) syndrome. (She also had a m/c prior to concieving.) Also, one of the questions my MFM doctor asked me was if my Mom or any relatives on my Mom's side had pre-e (which was called something else back in the day like toxicity or something) or small babies. I have no idea why she was particularly interested in my Mom's side as opposed to my Dad's side...
Now if the same would hold true for IF, I don't know...I think there could be some legitimacy to this if your IF is perhaps autoimmune related...or, I suppose, your body could recognize your DH's sperm as a foreign substance and attacks it??? I think I've heard of this before...

This was pretty much what I have read. There is some research that indicates it could prevent autoimmune related losses if it has anything to do with foreign DNA. If it works for me to get pregnant, maybe it will also help fight off pre-E. That would be nice, two birds with one dirty stone

Yeah, I know I've heard of women's bodies rejecting sperm and rejecting embryos. And I've heard that some women have anti-sperm antibodies before that attack and kill the sperm. And I know I've heard of autoimmune issues causing recurrent miscarriage, too. All of this can be autoimmune related, but I don't know much about this.
Funny, I just used Dr. Google and came up with this: https://www.livestrong.com/article/10772--understand-causes-autoimmune-infertility/
This also says POF can be autoimmune related as the woman's body attacks the part of her bodies that make the hormones...
With all of that said, I wonder if exposure to the sperm would decrease the reaction. I think this is plausible. Here is my thought process - I have horrible allergies. As in, there are some things I am so allergic to that it makes me very ill. I have an epi pen and got allergy shots on-and-off throughout most of my childhood and even got them as an adult until about 2 years ago when I quit going. My understanding that the idea behind allergy shots is that they expose you to a little bit at a time and gradually increase the amount of the substance until your body quits over-reacting to the substance you are allergic to (i.e. creating a negative allergic reaction) and causing you the negative symptoms. If this is how allergy shots work, I don't see where exposure to sperm would be any different than an allergy shot...but then again I'm not a doctor.
