So we have a 3 bedroom house, one child and one on the way.
DH works long hours and is VERYY sensitive to getting his sleep. He needs his sleep, and I let him have that I generally sleep in DD1's room in a twin bed with her. We have co slept forever, though lately with the pregnancy it has been very difficult.
When DD2 comes, I want to be able to tend to her in the night, and take care of DD1 but still have a place to get good sleep.
My thought it turning what would be the babies room into the family "Sleep Room" and DD1's room into the play room. the room would have a full size bed and a bassinet.
what does everyone think about this? Other ideas maybe? I'm already %100 checked into the co-sleeping/ bed sharing mindset so please don't knock me there.
Re: bed sharing/ family bed.
We used to have an arrangement with everyone in the room too. I moved DS1 to a floor bed next to our bed (long before baby came) and then put LO2 in bed with me, because I'm laaazy and not waking up all the way and removing him from a bassinet to breastfeed at night!
DH sleeps in our bed too, but usually he works nights and so I'd have the bed to myself adult-wise. Sometimes he would sleep on the couch or DS1's twin when he was home. Now that DS1 is older and wasn't sleeping well in the family room, we moved him to his own bed/own room and he is, for the first time ever, sleeping through the night! DH also re-joined the bed when he is off work. I liked that he still had his own room so we could make that change. We thought about the playroom idea too, but I wanted both kids to eventually have their own rooms, so we set it up that way from the beginning.
You could also put the twin next to the full if you wanted a giant bed for all 3 of you.
