Fatigue?

I hope I am not considered one of the newbies here as mentioned in the last post. I do try to respond with advice when I feel that I actually know what I am talking about. FTM here so I am unsure about a lot! It has been helpful reading post and hearing what everyone else is up too. That's what brings this post up... I have been "tired" for a while now with lack of sleep etc. this weekend I have literally slept the entire time. I got home from teaching Friday and slept, woke up had dinner and slept, then later got into bed. Yesterday I went to my labor support class and slept, then watched a movie and went to bed. Today I got up early did a few things and took a nap at 9am until now. Is this normal? I am not a nap type person! I just thought this seemed excessive, but I did have field day, a school dance, awards day and beach blast with the 6th graders this week.

Also just wanted to say congrats to all of the new moms! I am so thrilled to see everyone doing ok!!

Re: Fatigue?

  • I'd say completely normal.. Just your body telling you it needs rest. I'm a "newbie" too I guess lol. I didn't realize it mattered since we are all preggo. I heard some people are very mean in here and I can't quite grasp that one but whatevs. Hopefully not true. What's your due date?

  • I recognize your screen name:)

I usually wake up at 5am and don't take a nap throughout the day. However, the last 2 days I've woken up at 5 and then gone back to sleep on the couch until 8. I've been really tired so I think it's probably normal this late in our pregnancies.

I definitely can relate!  Just this past week, I started being much more tired than usual.  In fact, one morning when DH and I were both off work, I slept until 10 am.  I felt like a lazy college kid again :)  I would assume it's normal too.  Our bodies are just in overdrive trying to keep up with our regular lives and create a baby at the same time!

July 22. About a month and a halfish left!
  • I'm exhausted All.The. Time. Things that used to take me two hours to get done take me a whole day because I have to take so many breaks. I think we should get used to it... it's likely here to stay.

  • I think it is probably normal; although, I too am a FTM. I am usually wide awake every day from 25 and then at night I'm falling asleep in the couch. Today I slept till 10. I can't even believe it!

  • I haven't been napping a lot, but I sure do need to take a lot of breaks when doing anything. After vacuuming - break, picking up around the house - break, doing the dishes - break, sometimes when I'm just standing up - break. It's pretty annoying when I'm trying to get stuff done.

  • BTDT mom here. 35 weeks and constantly been exhausted. Keep doing too much on Saturdays and ending up sick all day on Sunday. Honestly, it's even worse this time than last since I stay home with my 2 yr old instead of sit at a desk all week. The mythical nesting instinct with a sudden burst of energy never seems to apply to me. Unfair.
  • i call them growth spurts! mine usually go away after a few days rest.
  • Last pregnancy I napped.  Had to.  Couldn't function.  This time I am home with a rambunctious five yr old and naps aren't happening and it's really getting to me.  I feel bad and get really overwhelmed.  IF you are able to sleep/nap DO IT!

I'm also due July 22!! I can't sleep at night and have no energy during the day! I can't wait until the nesting phase kicks in and I get that last burst of energy!!
