Password

I just read a news article about a local boy who was almost abducted and was saved by a password.  A guy pulled up to take him and said his mom asked him to pick him up for her and the boy had a password with his mom so he asked the guy what the password was and he didn't know it so the boy didn't go with him and escaped.  Such a great idea!  I am so going to make sure I do a password, even though my kids don't go anywhere without me yet.

Re: Password

  • I had one since grade 1. I still remember it. Good idea for sure.

  • I still remember my childhood password: bubbles. I guess I was f.ucked if a stranger tried to lure me with a bottle of bubbles. I'm just kidding. I know that's not how the system was supposed to work.

  • I had one when I was a child also, the password was bananas.

I will do it with my kids when they are old enough to remember, although I can't think of a circumstance where I would have someone they didn't know pick them up.

  • We had a password growing up, and our parents also told us the short list of people we were allowed to go with. It was a neighbor whose daughter babysat us and who was close to our mom, the school principal who was also a family friend, and another family friend.
