We have been doing solids for almost a month now and I just haven't found a good schedule. I know that we aren't suppose to cut back on milk intake but if I don't then he wont eat any food. He is 9 1/2 months, 6 1/2 adjusted, and is still on fortified milk for some extra cals. Anyone have any suggestions? What did you do?
Re: Feedings and solids
We would do solids about 30 minutes to 1 hour after a bottle. Honestly, solids at this point are about the experience and not the calories. It is to get them used to textures and practice eating. Some days A would eat a lot of solids, other days not so much. She wasn't picking stuff up to put in her mouth until she was about 11 months old (7.5 adjusted) and even then it was only a few Cheerios. That is when she went on a pureed food strike, and would only eat stuff she could put in her mouth herself.

The most important rule I respect when feeding my baby is: first breastmilk and then solids. I first breastfeed and after one hour or so I offer solids, she's not taking a lot but still, breastmilk is the primary source when it comes for feeding. You should just make sure she gets enough breastmilk and find the right solids to offer. I use very different fruits and vegetables which I get from here: https://goodmomming.com/ . I think it's a great resource for weaning.
