I See You're Pregnant, So I'll Be Rude and Stupid | BlogHer
My favorite was when my father in law told me yesterday "wow, you look like you've been putting away the budweiser" Seriously? Innapropriate, rude awkward on so many levels. I said Um , no, definatly not drinking beer, the baby has to grow somewhere, that owuld be your grandson growing. wtf

Yeah, I try to make a joke about these kinds of comments too. I don't think anyone's trying to be rude, even when they actually are, they just don't know what to say. Lots of my coteachers have said things like, "Whoa, you got huge over the weekend!" and I know they're just making conversation so I try not to trip about it.
Wow! This is a good and sadly accurate list. I can not believe the comments that people freely make about weight to pregnant women. I am well within the normal weight gain for pregnancy and I feel like I get comments on weight all the time. IT IS NORMAL TO PUT ON WEIGHT WHEN MAKING A BABY!
But yah, the beer comment is a little off colour. Not sure what is up with that.
Same here. I would be offended by comments like "you're gonna have a hard time getting that baby weight off" or something along those lines, but I enjoy hearing that my belly is getting bigger, because it is and I love it.
I'm another one who really doesn't mind getting comments about my bump. I like it, actually. I'm also fairly comfortable and not self conscious of the bump since it is clearly all baby (DH even likes to comment how it looks like I've lost a ton of weight everywhere else.) So that might add to it.
I did get one really odd comment though. I had a brand new 8th grade student in my class, literally her first day at the school. The first words she says to me (in front of the whole class, no less) were in a very biting tone "Are you like, PREGNANT or something?" to which I responded calmly (although with a puzzled expression) "Yes, in fact I am. Why do you ask?" and she responded "Good! I didn't want to say something inappropriate!" LOL So if I wasn't pregnant, you were going to loudly announce to the class that I was wicked fat? Where was this going? Sooooo awkward!
