Montessori daycares?

Does anyone have any experience with Montessori daycares? I had always imagined my child would go to a more traditional daycare but it doesn't look like our first choice is going to work out so now I'm branching out to other options. We toured a Montessori school today and was surprised at how much I liked it and how similar it was to my parenting style!

So, what are the good/bad of Montessori daycares?

The main concern I have is the lack of cribs. Does it really work for infants/toddlers to just crawl over to the napping area and really get a good nap?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

  • DD is in a Montessori daycare. I was really worried about nap time too but she actually naps longer at daycare than she does at home with me. It took about 2 weeks though for her to adjust to napping on a nap mat.

  • My oldest is going to be leaving her Montessori preschool for kindergarten this fall and I'm so devastated. Montessori is amazing. My DD is already reading, doing addition and subtraction, mastered her numbers to 1000 and has surprisingly good handwriting. I credit a lot if it to her Montessori school, they are amazing!!!!

  • We had looked in to montessori, the ones around me start at toddler (18m) or older. But at this point it's not in our budget as it is significantly more than the average centers nearby.

I am pretty sure we'll start sending him there for preschool at age 3, partly because I am very unimpressed with the preschool program at his current center and I really believe in the montessori method so I'd love to send him through 8th grade (highest grade available nearby).
