Anyone know about FMLA for dads-to-be in NC?

My baby's father has been with his company a little under a year.  It doesn't seem like his company will offer him any type of parental leave.  What options/resources are available to him so that he can take the needed time off for the birth and bonding of our newborn son and still be offered his normal pay?  Any advice/resources would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

  • FMLA is unpaid leave employees qualify for only if they've been there a year.  Many employers will make exception for good employees.  All FMLA does is protect your job while you take up to 12 weeks time in any given year.

Short or long term disability is your best bet to collect pay, but he would already need to be enrolled and you'd need to check on whether paternal benefits are available.

    good luck!
