For those of you who did BLW, can you give me more food ideas?
Although we didn't start off doing BLW w/M, we've started giving him "finger foods" about 2 weeks ago. After a few days of gagging/coughing, as well as poor aim to his mouth, he is now doing great with self-feeding. He still doesn't have pincer grasp yet, but he can grab very well with his fist, and release his fingers when they reach his mouth.
We've done broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes, omelette, pasta (rotini), chicken, cauliflower, bagel, french toast, muffins, strawberries, peaches, bananas, and even spinach.
Just looking for more suggestions. Also - how do you guys do liquidy stuff like yogurt or oatmeal?
The thing is, M has been refusing to be spoon-fed for the past few days. He closes his little mouth tight and turns his head when he sees me coming near him w/a spoon. At first I thought he was just not hungry. But then when I put foods on his tray, he'll happily feed himself. Before he started refusing, I was giving him a couple tsp yogurt and oatmeal daily...

I bought the BLW cookbook, but I honestly haven't looked at it yet. I like the dipping/freezing/more solid spoon food ideas. Ive also heard of Pre-loading a spoon and handing spoon to baby to self-feed. However, M might be a bit young.

While not necessarily completely BLW, we gave DD lots of the plum organics pouches, which she very quickly learned to self feed! We had to hold the bottom for her at first, but after about a month of doing that, she was able to hold them on her own and eat them. We did the same thing with yogurt tubes - chobani has yogurt tubes, and so does stoneyfield organics. DD likes both varieties.
Also, mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, just about all fruits. We found that penne pasta was easier for her to hold than rotini, so we'd give that to her with a variety of sauces. Turkey and chicken, and cheese sticks too.
Mum mums are also great, because they can hold them in their fist.

Mashed potatoes, watermelon, honeydew, boiled apples and pears cut up. Bread and toast. Block cheese cut in thin strips, or shredded cheese. And eggs...because I didn't know about allergy possibilities. D' oh.
And for yogurt and applesauce, I just spoon fed her and then let her play with the spoon "dip it" after.
