question about solids

i was wondering if anyone new why its bad to mix foods together when introducing them to baby.  I know the whole allergy thing, but what i mean is if i introduced carrots (alone) then when i want to introduce green beans, is it ok to add them to the carrots since i already know, A. there is no allergy  to carrots and B. i know he likes carrots already.  I did that already with sweet potato and bananas, gave him sweet potatoes first for several days then when i wanted to introduce banana, i mmixed some in with sweet potatoes.  but after reading some stuff on introducing solids, im wondering of that wasn't such a good idea.

  • IMO it should be fine as long as one of the two mixed together has been introduced on it's own for a few days. I don't see why not!

  • I don't see a problem with it. I do it. As long as you are not introducing more than 1 "new" food at a time, I think it is perfectly fine.

From what I have read, I think the rationale behind not mixing foods is to get LO used to the taste on it's own. That way it's less like you are "hiding" foods and they learn to like green beans, for example.

  • IMO it should be fine. We were cautioned to give one food at a time for several days before introducing a new food just in case of an allergy so it could be easily identified
