9 month old won't nap in crib

My DD is almost 9 months old and will only nap in her swing. We've tried numerous times to nap her in the crib, but she will only nap 20 minutes, where in the swing she naps a good 2 hours. We've tried the CIO, but she shares a room with her brother so that sometimes is not a good idea since he wakes up. Also, we put her down to sleep at around 7:30 at night...she sleeps till around 1am, but then refuses to go back in her crib and will only sleep in a bouncer. I think she likes the comfort and to snuggle. How can I change this habit? Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

  • I have read that you can move the swing/bouncer right beside the crib for a few nights and if you usually turn it on, gradually work to leaving it off. Then try putting the bouncer actually IN the crib for a few nights. Eventually LO should be able to go back to just the crib. But I haven't tried this. So I don't know how we'll it works. Just throwing it out there for ya!

  • I think you should try a gradual approach before letting her cry. In general, I'm a fan of whatever gets baby and you the most sleep. If this swing still worked, I'd have my LO in it! There are tips for gradually weaning from swing as a PP suggested. Good luck.

  • I agree with KB in that you have to be 100% consistent in whatever you decide to do.  The inconsistency makes babies confused.
