My boys are 26 weekers and now are adjusted age of 6 mos. E just had is first tooth break through and it looks grey. Not white like my first sons was so I googled and discovered "preemie teeth"
Can you share your experience with me? Do I need to worry about the adult set of teeth?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Preemie teeth?
There are definitely some teeth issues that can arise from prematurity. Lots of the issues related to discoloration are related to bili levels. Was he under the lights for an extended amount of time? My understanding is that this discoloration only affects the baby teeth.
I initially thought that my 25 weekers teeth looked a bit discolored but once they fully emerged they seem appropriately white. Maybe wait until his teeth are fully emerged until getting too worried?
A pediatric dentist should be able to determine if it is discoloration or an enamel issue.
