So today I got offered the opportunity I've been dying for! A chance to work with our London team. And they want me to leave this weekend!
So I come home, start packing, dig out my passport...and it's expired.
FML!
So now I get to spend tomorrow at the regional processing center, begging them to issue me a new passport in time for my flight. I feel like such a doofus!!
Moral of the story? Never let your passport expire. Because it's really hard to Lean In when they won't let you leave the country...
Re: Doh!
I LOLed at your last sentance.
GL! Hope you are able to get everything resolved today!! I'm going to be optomistic for you and tell you safe travels! :-)
Congrats on the new opportunity!
It costs a small fortune but you can probably get an expedited passport within hours. H recently had the same issue.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
I got the passport!
This isn't exactly advertised, but it is possible to get a same day passport at a regional processing center. If you go to the us gov passport page, there's a link for getting a passport in a rush. It says within 2 weeks, but you can likely get the passport same day, or next day. There's a 24 hour automated number you call to make an appointment (I called at 11:30pm and got a 9:30am appointment). You show up to your appointment with the materials, proof of your upcoming trip (ie reason for needing it expedited), and then give them ~4 hours to print it. It was the most hassle-free experience I've ever had at a government office.
Oh, and if you have several centers within driving distance, choose the one that's not as popular.
