homemade all purpose cleaner?

I have developed an allergy to any scented products since having my babies. I have also noticed that the babies are also sensitive and develop rashes. I try to clean their toys and play area on a daily basis and use just a little drop of seventh generation liquid soap. Yesterday my nanny did the cleaning and all the babies broke out in a rash after playing in their play area. I suspect it's the cleaner :
Long story short, I would like to make my own cleaner that is ALL natural can anyone recommend how I should do this? Thanks.

  • We use vinegar water solution. You could also add thyme oil or I use Tea tree oil too. I wouldn't recommend TTO around anything baby might put in their mouth though as it can be harmful if ingested. I only clean toys when my little one is sick though.

  • I also do 50/50 water and vinegar with a drop of dish soap.  I then add slices of lemon squeezed in and put the peel in too and just let them chill in there.

  • I make orange infused vinegar and then dilute with water.  It just has a nicer scent than regular vinegar.  To make the vinegar I put 3 large orange peels in a large mason jar.  Then I fill the jar with vinegar and let it sit for 2 weeks.  After I put 50% water and 50% vinegar in a spray bottle. Viola!

  • I use water & vinegar with some tea tree too. If I'm scrubbing the kitchen good I'll sprinkle some baking soda on the counters before I spray them down.

  • I make all my cleaners with vinegar and water. I'll add certain essential oils depending on what the cleaner is for. Baking soda, peroxide and dish soap get added to some too. I buy my spray bottles in bulk now because of all the cleaners I've tried making, lol.

  • Does anyone know if vinegar solution can be used to safely clean stone countertops (granite, limestone, marble...etc) or can recommend an alternative safe DIY cleaner? Not sure if vinegar will ruin finish on stone. TIA :)
