Has anyone done this? My acu was telling me that one of the girls in her office is certified to do this. I'm kind of intrigued, since I had some post partum stuff that really sucked once DD started sleeping through the night at 9 months and my milk supply dropped. It is also supposed to help w initial recovery after child birth, milk production, etc.
I'm interested as long as I don't have to bake it in a lasagna. That's gross. I guess with this process someone just comes to my house, dehydrates it and puts it in capsules.

Re: Placenta encapsulation
But if it doesn't skeeve you out I'd for sure look into it. I think people over on Parenting or SAHM have done it and may know details. Gl!

It personally kinda makes me want to throw up in my mouth a little bit, but if it doesn't make you want to vom I say go for it!
After I read this post I giggled because I remember seeing some ridiculous article about women framing their placenta and putting it up in their living rooms, someone had theirs sown into the shape of a freaking teddy bear, just weird, weird crap. Made taking the pills look like not that big of a deal
Lol. That is really gross! Rebecca assured me that if I was okay w taking TCM herbs, I should be okay w the placenta pills. My PP stuff was unpleasant enough that I'm willing to consider it.
I didn't do this but my best friend did. I believe the hospital had it sent to a doula in our area who does this. I think she said it was $200. I did see the pills and they pretty much look like an herbal supplement.
She had issues with milk production with her first so that was the main reason she did it. She still wound up having some production issues with her second baby but he was born premature so it was really hard to tell if his lack of initial weight gain was from low milk production or for other reasons. She still had some pp issues with anxiety but she says it would have been much worse had she not taken the placenta pills. I don't know, I didn't do a whole lot of research so the only info I really have is what she told me. I also remember her saying that the people she talked to said it either worked wonders or did nothing so there is definitely no harm in trying!
Good luck!
Okay, so I did a search because I remembered looking at all of this ridiculous stuff people are doing with their placentas and I couldn't find the actual slideshow of pictures I was looking at but did find this blog with a picture of the placenta teddy bear. Cracks me up! https://blogs.babycenter.com/mom_stories/turn-your-placenta-into-a-teddy-bear/
Anyway, I don't even want to know what was in the herbs Rebecca was feeding me either, but you know what? They made my cycles beautiful and I got preggo, so hey, maybe I shouldn't feel grossed out about swallowing my placenta! You try it first
Omg! That is seriously the creepiest thing ever. I made my DH look and he was really disturbed.
