Used glider/rocking chair for nursery?

I'm planning to get a (gently) used glider/rocking chair for the nursery.  There's a massive community-wide garage sale on Saturday nearby us that has TONS of baby stuff, so I'm thinking I can find a good one there.

However, now I'm second guessing myself.  A few people have told me not to buy that piece of furniture used (never know how much breast milk, puke, etc. got on there).  I am not a big germ-o-phobe type person.  And I figure if I see it in person, sit in it, etc., I will be able to tell generally how clean it is.  Plus you can usually wash cushions or slipcovers.  

Anyway, I'd appreciate any thoughts on the issue from you lovely and intelligent ladies. TIA!

I will get it. I sold my rocker to a second hard store. Just wash the pillows. You can dry clean them. Wipe the wood with a clorox wipe and you should be fine.

There's some furniture I wouldn't buy, but a glider is fine.  You can wipe the wood down with bleach to kill at germs.  As far as the cushions- just toss them.  You can buy a whole new set for not that much.  That way too the fabric part will be fresh, you can pick your own colors- best of both worlds.

Ours is used.  I'm just getting the cushion recovered, but mostly for aesthetic reasons

I got my guilder used. I cleaned out with lysol. It was a great deal.

I got my glider used. I never worried about germs. It's really nice and I saved a lot of money.

I would have no issues getting a glider used.  If it were a fabric one, I would have it cleaned by a commercial cleaning company.  I'm on the hunt for a used one too.  Good luck!

I bought mine used. It was actually one of our first purchases. We got ours for $65! I just wiped it all down. Ours looked like it was in exceptional condition and it's not like my baby is going to be sucking on the pillows haha

Honestly, my kid will probably be exposed to more dirt just from our dogs, cats, and crappy Army housing haha

I am looking for a used one too.  My family has bought stuff from yard sales for my entire life.  As long as you clean it you are good.  We actually just got an old fashioned cradle for the baby and it was all scuffed up, but the new one we saw was like $300 and this one was $5 and cuter so my dad took it apart and repainted it whitw, he even painted the screws and everything gold.  It looks amazing!  I love it even more because he worked on it

Same here. We're currently looking for a second hand upholstered glider we'll be able to re-upholster with a fabric we like.

I'd do it. There's a used one on my local CL that I'm forcing myself not to buy ($50!!) because my ILs have already said they're buying us one. I hate paying full price for anything and I doubly hate when I feel like people have to spend money on me.
