Hi Everyone,
Just had my second miscarriage in one year...had a healthy, textbook pregnancy with DS in 2011. Got the call today and all of my bloodwork came back norma (I was so hoping it would not, so that it could be something "easily" fixable like progesterone or thyroid levels), so now I'm going to have a saline ultrasound to see if there is scarring from section preventing good implantation. And well, I *know* that's what has led to my miscarriages...I had a horrible infection, had to go back to the hospital, etc., etc.; my doctor said that it's treatable and that I can go on to have a healthy pregnancy again if the scar tissue is removed, but I guess I'm just wondering if ANYone has had an experience like this. (and please accept this glass of internet wine, because this is so not fun.)
Re: IF after C-section?
Me!
I had been on the pill for 10 years and got pregnant with DD the very first month I stopped it.
Now it's been almost 2 years of TTC and they can find NOTHING wrong with either my DH or I. All that has changed is the fact that I had a c-section. I'm convinced the two are related.
I've had two c-sections. First was Ds#1- he was an IVF baby. I had complete placenta previa so I had no choice. The second was DS#2- a natural miracle. Since they are so close in age, my OB refused to try a VBAC.
We have been TTC #3 for 19 months. My periods were regular, I thought it would be a piece of cake, but nothing. When I started going to back to my RE, he did hysteroscopy, which showed my uterus was normal. However, my uterus fills with fluid, which prevent my lining from thickening and/or staying thick enough to implant. I've had 4 cancelled FETs, one failed transfer (lining was a 7) and I'm on the verge of being cancelled for a 5th FET any day (my lining is a 5).
After months of treatment with every drug under the sun. My RE aspirates the fluid often. He thinks the fluid is basically from glands that never healed right and that I have damaged capillaries, resulting in limited blood flow. I don't know if I'm a crappy healer or if my OB did a crappy surgery. Either way, it's frustrating.
I hope you get some answers and your problem can be solved. Like you, I had no idea a c section could affect my fertility.
