Spotting (again)

I first started spotting at 7w1d and that lasted until 7w6d.  I had an US at that point that confirmed everything was going well.

I then started spotting again at 9w4d and that lasted until 10w1day.  I had an US in the midst of it at my regular appointment and everything was good again.

Today, at 10w5d, I am spotting again.  I have been having mild lower back pain for the last 2 days.  I have my NT scan on Monday so I won't be waiting too long.

I know that the chances are good that everything is ok, and I really try not to stress.  It is just so disconcerting to go to the bathroom and discover it has started up again.

None of my ultrasounds showed any reason for it to keep happening.

Is spotting more common with twins?  Did anyone else experience this frequent, recurrent spotting in the 1st trimester?

  • I had spotting before my twins and was a miscarriage. I then had spotting with the twins but was very different. scan confirmed everything was okay. I think it went away at about 9/10 weeks. I hope everything is ok for you.

  • I never had any spotting but I just wanted to say that I'll be thinking of you.  I know it is worrisome.  I could be wrong, but I think Progesterone suppositories can cause some light spotting.  I know you have been on those based on the post above.... maybe that is the cause?

  • I had spotting once early on. It only lasted a day or so. I was freaked out. My RE and OBGYN both told me it could have been from our progesterone, a recent vaginally ultrasound, or from sex. I hope that is all it is on your end. Best of luck.

  • Hi

Yes I had spotting/ tons of bright blood in week 6, week 9, 10, 11, and 15 and now at 20. They cant find a reason at all. They say I could just have a sensitive cervix, I have been to 3 different doctors and have had at least 15 ultrasounds, so now when I see blood I am cautious, but I am not as scared. I have no placenta previa, no short cervix and everything checks out fine. Babies are so active, growing ahead of there weeks. I was just at the docs today for this reason, they know me now by name. I wouldn't be too worried just get it checked out when it happens and then you will feel a little comfortable.

Finally my dream came true:) I'm pregnant!
