I have not yet been officially offered a new job but I'm hoping to be soon. DH and I are ready for baby #2, but I realize there are certain implications regarding FMLA, at least where I live, where you must be employed for a full year to be eligible. However, where I currently work I'm not even sure what is in place since we are a very small company.
Has anyone here taken a new job knowing they were TTC and continue trying? Or did you just wait a few more months to start? I'd rather not wait if I can but there may just not be a way around it.
Re: Trying to get pregnant and starting a new job?
I personally would wait if you get the job offer. I would want the job protection and wouldn't want to chance it. If you don't, then start TTC.
We're moving across country in 3 weeks and we decided to go ahead and TTC, regardless of me not having a job yet. With DD we waited and planned really carefully so that everything was in place and it was the "right" time to get pregnant... and then it took 11 months to conceive. We thought about it and decided that having the spacing we want for our children (2-3 years) was really important for us and decided not to wait in case it took that long again. I know that it will be tough to have less time off with the new baby, but in the long run it was best for our family.
I do understand the desire for FMLA, though. I'm a teacher, so I don't think I'd lose my position during my maternity leave. If that were a concern, we might have made a different decision!
Good luck with whatever you decide!
ETA: My husband will be carrying the insurance for all of us, so that was not a consideration, either.

Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.

I just started a new job and asked up front about a leave. It's a really small company though and they don't seem to mind the less than 12 mos (if we should happen to get pregnant in the next few months).
I know not every company is open to discussing this topic during the interview process, but I was in a position that they really wanted me.
Good luck!
