Vaccine questions

If you have had your 2 month vax appointment, which vaccines did you receive?  I know the 5 individual vaccines (HiB, Dtap, Rotavirus, Polio, PC).
But my question is more regarding did your Pedi use a combo vax (like Pediarix or Pentacel) or did you receive them all separately?  (Please no vaccine debating, just curious how many Pedi's use combos, and how many stick with single vaccines).

Re: Vaccine questions

  • We got the combo (pentacel, I think) and 2 other shots and an oral. They also use the individual ones if your insurance doesn't cover the combo, luckily ours does.

  • I don't remember how they were combined, but DS got 3 different injections, and an oral dose for rotavirus. One injection had like 3 or 4 things in it, and that was in one thigh, and the other 2 were in his other thigh.

  • They were all separate this time but the pedi said it was because of a national shortage of the combined vaccines. Normally, he does the combined and felt horribly that he had to get poked that many times.

  • We only got the HiB, Dtap, Polio, and Rotovirus. The Hep B was out of stock she said, which kinda pissed me off. Two shots on one leg, one on the other, and the roto was an oral.

  • Single vaccines seem like they would be torture for LO, and expensive/inconvenient for a pediatrician to buy and store. Our pedi had combo Pentacel Dtap, polio, Hib then single Hep B 2 and PCV

I agree... our Pedi gives them all separate. So 6 separate vaccines.  I am not happy with our Pedi for other reasons, so I was considering switching.  But I don't want to mess up LO's vaccine schedule b/c the place I am considering uses Combo vaccines.  But, I will see what they say.
