UO/Judgments?

It's been rather slow around here with these crazy toddlers and some newborns to care for, but common ladies!

Re: UO/Judgments?

  • I judge my girlfriend's husband for his inability to ever watch his kids alone for more than an hour. This means my friend has never been without her kids for more than the hours she works, unless her parents or ILs watch them. Her DD will be 5 this summer, and her DS is 2.

I'm also kind of judging your friend that she hasn't told her husband the GTF over it. There is no way that would fly in my house, after 5 years I think I would have just been like "Going to check the mail" and peaced out for awhile.

Unfortunately, I don't think their marriage will last forever. She's expressed to me she's basically a single parent when it comes to most things. He does help when she's home, but he couldn't handle them alone. I'm sure glad I married someone with practice before I had a child with him.

  • I judge the mothers on the playgrounds around here, who just sit around and chat and don't take care of their kids. Nothing wrong with chatting, but some supervision is necessary. Kids need to be lifted in and out of swings for example. And just because I do it here and there, does not mean I am on baby duty for all of you.
Get your lazy azz of the bench and parent, FFS.

Oh, and when I send your kid to you for help, don't give me dirty looks. I don't care and it won't make me do your job.

I judge the parents at my playground too Nita. The ones who let their kids on it barefoot. It is mulched and sanded but there are rocks here and there and twigs and sticks. If you don't want to clean sand out of your kids shoes take them to another park.

Some parents are into earthing their kids, too though.

Oh this would drive me crazy! Take care of your own kids people!
It reminds my of when I was at a wedding, I was playing with B and slowly all the kids trickled over and I turned into a free baby sitter for a couple hours! The parents didn't even come check on them once!
I had to laugh though when my baby sitter came and picked B up after dinner and all the other parents then had to watch their own kids and I could dance and talk with my husband kid free!!

I really don't know the extent of it, but I think this is a good article explaining it:

Sounds like we go to the same playground. Except I'm cold hearted and don't help kids in and out of swings.  I tell them they have to ask their mommy. I think with older kids it's fine to sit back but kids still need supervised. There are little toddlers running around without parents anywhere nearby all the time. Annoying.

  • I think grand graduations ceremonies for anything other than high school/ college are silly. I've seen so many pictures of 4 years olds in caps and gowns carrying prek diplomas lately. IMO, that's just too much.

  • I judged next door neighbors for being awful parents. They are friends of my husband from years ago. But they have 2 boys, 6 and 4 years old, who are out of control and disrespectful.

They eat like crap, get everything they want, and are HUGE, cry babies. They are great with Brooke and watch out for her when we get together, but when it comes to adults, they are just rude and mean. Not to mention how they treat each other.

I hope that the age difference between them and my girls is big enough that they don't have too much influence over them. I will also have to parent my girls a bit more and explain how their behavior is unacceptable.

In theory, I agree with you, but I know I will be posting photos of my kids kindergarten graduations on FB for everyone else to see.

AND  I've already said we're homeschooling so I obviously see this from a different perspective. I'm just reading about graduation parties for pre-k kids and to me, it's just over the top.

While all the kids look absolutely adorable in their  their oversized caps and gowns, I just think it's too much. "You finished Preschool, let's celebrate with icecream!" is more my style.

Also, this is just an uo, not a judgment. Most of these parents are freaking awesome and their kids are really cool kids. If N was graduating from pre-k, I'd post pics too. ;)

This has been happening for 40 years. I'm old and I had a cap/gown kindergarten graduation. I think the difference is in the fanfare, celebration parties, and visibility of it all via Social Media.
  • I judge the posters on my BMB who are complaining because they don't have any pregnancy symptoms. "I'm really worried, I got a BFP but haven't had any symptoms. I feel so great!" I get it if you're worried because of a previous loss or something, but seriously people, do not ask for morning sickness. If you can skip this part of pregnancy just be thankful.

E had a graduation last year from Pre-K but they don't do a Kindergarten one. I am devastated. MH is off tomorrow so I'm leaving work early to pick him up from school and we're having a "party" and going out to dinner.

If the school is doing it, I certainly see going along with it. I think it is unnecessary though. I don't mean having a cute, little ceremony type thing and a little party in the classroom or something equivalent. I mean the real caps and gowns, professional photos with formal background taken through the school, huge parties with gifts, etc.

    It's Pinterest's fault.

I judge my FIL.  He came over to help us with our yard last week and decided the ATV we were using to haul sod wasn't enough.  So he walked over and asked our new neighbor to borrow his tractor/utility cart.  The neighbor wasn't thrilled and tried to say the axle was acting strange (basically didn't want us borrowing it) but FIL kind of guilted him into it.  DH and I were too busy to notice what he was doing or else we would have stopped him - we just don't know those neighbors well enough to ask them to borrow their expensive equipment.  Especially if that equipment isn't working properly.

FIL proceeded to break the utility cart completely (because of the weird axle and him putting way too much weight in the utility cart) and then went home not long after without offering to replace it (or even go to tell our neighbor).  DH and I had to go out and buy the replacement cart ourselves (over $250) and put it together (although, 5 minutes into putting it together, DH called his dad and told him to get his a$$ back over to our house to help assemble it - which he did).

I know the man is clueless but come on!  That little incident totally threw our budget off this month and considering we are working really hard to live off of DH's income, it was really annoying.

So yea, I judge my FIL for having no common sense.

Oh and I confess that I'm a dirty, earthing hippie.  :)  But I don't allow DS to run around a random playground (or anywhere random for that matter) without shoes on.  We only do our hippie sh*t in our own backyard where I know there is no possibility of coming across a rusty nail, broken glass, drug needles, etc, etc, etc... So yea, I judge the moms who let their kids run barefoot in public places.

    I agree!

I look back at all of the pictures I took of L when she was a newborn and they are basically her just laying down in different places... at the time I thought it was so exciting haha. Poor H hardly has any pictures.. I did manage to take a few when she turned 1 month so that was a plus lol.. L is so much more exciting to take pictures of because she's actually doing things, making funny faces, etc.

I have scars on my head from when I had the chicken pox. I remember wanting to scratch so badly and climbing up onto my and pretending to sleep so I could scratch. I pulled scabs off my forehead to scratch them and now I have scars. I was around 4 when I got the chicken pox and all my siblings had them too. It was miserable.

A simple shot prevents that now. Well, two part shot I think. I judge those parents. Hard.

Two other things I can't stand:

    1. Parents who take their kids anywhere and don't watch them
