What is the recommend age to start these? I keep reading and hearing various times that they can start eating them, but didn't know what you all are doing.
I bought some and they all say that they are for once baby is able to crawl on their own. We aren't there yet. My LO has also had trouble with "chunks" of food. He loves purees of any kind, but when his food has a texture to it, he has a hard time not gagging. I want to wait for that to improve before we try these. I say whatever seems appropriate for your LO.
They are a "crawler" snack. But I gave once she was sitting by herself. The thing is she is JUST now being able to pick up with her fingers and not her whole fist. They dissolve pretty easily I wouldn't worry about choking IMO.
She really likes the arrowroot cookies that she can gum and suck on.
I started giving Puffs to DD at 7 months after we started introducing solids at 6 months. We started with oatmeal cereal mixed with BM and it took her 2-3 weeks to get the hang of eating. After a month of practicing with solids, I gave her Puffs. I only give her a few as snacks. She likes them and can eat them on her own really well. She got 2 bottom teeth at 7 months. I'm always afraid of her choking on food, but I don't worry about Puffs since they pretty much dissolve in her mouth. Sometimes when she doesn't want to eat her pureed baby food, I'll trick her with a Puff to open her mouth. She'll be 9 months next week! Time flies!
I would assume that once your baby is able to pick them up and put them in his or her mouth they are probably okay to have them with your supervision. My LO is eating them and enjoys them.
We started them last week. She can pick them up in her palm and every so often can put one in her mouth. About half the time I end up putting them in her mouth.
