What game/activity does LO like to play would you rather poke yourself in the eye than play?
For me as I said, it would pokemon. Also he always has these battle senarios with action figures, stuffed animals, monster truck, etc and we have to "have to battle to see who wins". ... Somewhat along the lines of pokemon...maybe a link lol. Anyway my guy always has to lose because his guy is immune, has a better power. Frustrates the heck out of me and I feel like I'm five and whining, "no fair! You guy always wins!!"LOL
Re: In honor of time spent playing post....
Honestly? Hide and seek.
Because kids generally suck at it. Mine does. She'll hide in these spots where I can see her in 1 second, and she'll giggle. But if I find her right away, she gets all ticked and mad at me. So I have to walk around for 5 minutes pretending I don't see her and say "Ugh! I can't find you!" and she'll giggle...
*pokes eye out*
It's pretty painful. The last time we played she hid behind the floor lamp. The problem was, the floor lamp post is like 1 inch wide. Pretty sure my kid spans more than 1" wide. But I had to pretend I didn't at all see her, as she's laughing her butt off (and I have to pretend I can't hear her, either).
I'm hoping in a few years she gets a little better at the game.
Oy. I see my future.
At 18 months, DS doesn't have an attention span for anything to get too annoying. He loves being carted around the neighborhood though. So first I'll pull him in his wagon, then push him in his stroller, then his cozy coupe.... but at least I get exercise out of the deal!

I love hide-and-seek with my daughter. Sure, she gives herself away, but the "is she in X (ridiculous place, like a toy bin that she can't fit into)" is fun. And she's great at taking turns so she hides, then I hide, and so on.
But the dog... oh dear lord, every time I hide, the dog comes to exactly where I am and points his nose right at me. It took her a few months, but now she just looks for the dog to find me. /facepalm
DD likes to play "the scarecrow game" where you stand still with your arms out (like a scarecrow) and as she walks or runs (it varies) past, you have say boo, and then reach out and tickle her. It gets old after the 3rd repetition, and she'd be happy to do 30.
You can come play with my daughter then
It was fun in the beginning.. now she's 7, so it's not as fun anymore.
Lol, I believe you.
I think it's interesting how we all have different tolerances for different games. Some of them I can do for hours. Some I get twitchy after two minutes. Hopefully, as DD gets older, DH will play the ones that make me twitchy instead.
Re: Hide and Seek, my kid hides in the exact same spot every.single.time. I also wander and pretend she is ridiculous places, like in a small cupboard, or under the couch that is only about 3 inches off the ground.
I recently bought her Don't Break The Ice... and I haaaate it.
Right now he's on a big Wiffle ball kick. He gets so p!ssed off when he misses the ball so he makes me bat. Then he tells me over and over to hit it on top of the house. If I get a strike or don't hit it where he deems satisfactory he gets more and more frustrated. I just want to sit and relax in the shade! Instead he's got me standing in the sun for hours, yelling at me for my poor batting average.
Ok...now my son is inquiring why I'm laughing so hard....These stories are so funny....I think I will be grateful for my pokemon sessions. Literally in tears.....the whiffle bat yelling....tears I tell you.
Does remind me of one stage he went through of pretending to be a hamster and I had to pretend to be a little girl who gets him as a pet for Christmas...cute at first...but seriously hours and he would tell me everything to do/say and be mad if I didn't do it. He seriously should have written a script with my lines. Very creative for him but I had no room to explore my character
. He hadd me feed him lettuce and carrots.
DS assigns characters to me as well! At least your's was a good way to get veggies in him, right?
DS really likes to play Temple Run on my phone. In the game you're a guy who's running from monkeys and you have to jump and slide over obstacles. He always says "you the monkey. Me the guy. Eat me monkey!"
My sisters and I would play that game for HOURS when we were little, lol
DS is not yet into any "games" per se, but one of his favorite activities is ripping teeny, tiny pieces of paper off of a magazine and handing me the pieces to throw away. On the one hand it's super cute but, on the other hand, he could rip a little bit bigger pieces to speed the process along! The other funny part of this game is that every time he hands me a piece he says, "Annie?" Annie is one of his daycare teachers. From what I gather, he likes to hand things to Annie. God bless her if this is how she spends her day!
I actually like playing all of the games/activities DS comes up with. My only complaint is the "chase me and my car on your knees around the kitchen floor with your car as fast as you can"---that takes up a lot of my energy!
The other ones I'm fine with; Superheroes, hopping, ball toss, racing on foot (short distance), bubbles, backyard kid pool, hide & seek, CandyLand, etc.
This was one of DS favorites as well. I was so happy the day I found it on a CD (I can look tonight to see who sings it.) It follows the words exactly and he likes the music, meaning I don't have to read it! Win-Win!
DS loves Mario Brothers and has all these little Mario figures. He plays "minigames" based after Mario Party 8 for the Wii All.The.Time. Problem is he can never lose and if you play wrong he gets mad and goes to play by himself. I so wish we hadn't introduced Mario into his life! He walks around talking like him and pretending to bang imaginary blocks with his fist!
Another thing on the list is Duck-Duck-Goose. It is not fun to play with 2 people, ever!
We add DS's stuffed animals to the game. I sit about three of them around the circle :-)
This exactly. I love that she wants to be read to, and I would never NOT read to her, but after reading the same thing for the fifth time in a row, I go a little bonkers.
HILARIOUS!!!!!!
I would say, playing Wii with my son is the most frustrating thing in the world. He loves to "play" but does not get the concept that you have to move and use the controller in front of the sensor. So, I am dancing or playing, and he is just standing there, or he will pause the game by pressing the buttons, and say, "uh uh", but he doesn't want you to touch his controller!
